When did I grow up?

I'm not sure exactly when this happened. One day, I was living in my little apartment with my cat, without a worry or stress (other than boy troubles and what cute outfit will I wear out Friday night) and the next thing I know I have a husband, kid, step-kid and I'm talking down payments on houses, mortgage rates and which neighborhood has the better elementary school. I realize in my head that this was a gradual process, but it still seems sudden. I used to be able to go out until 2 in the morning and wake up for work the next day - now I feel like crap if I'm up much past 10. When did I get old? When did I grow up? I still don't even think of myself as a grown up. I still feel like I'm in my 20's. That's gotta count for something!!

More Birthday Fun

Yummy Yummy cupcakes!
Jan's hat reads, "At least I'm younger than Lisa"
My pink tongue after my cupcake!
Tina and Linh
After lunch at Hooter's, we had cupcakes and everyone wore hats. Here are some pictures of my big day!

Birthday

I arrive at work this morning to find this - hundreds of foam flowers stuck on EVERYTHING in my little cubicle home. What a kind friend Tina is! I'm going to have to pry each of these off as there is adhesive on the back of every one of them!

Look at this picture of the awesome make up bag and change purse my mom made for me for my birthday. I just love it. The picture doesn't do it justice. I think I need to do some photography research. I've been taking a lot of blurry pictures lately. Either I'm moving the camera, or the backgrounds I chose are all wrong.

Growing Old

So I go out today to lunch with my dear friend Tina. We eat at this fast-food Chinese place and then sit outside for a few minutes. We talk and laugh like we normally do, then we decide to go to the vitamin store down the street before heading back to work. As we get out of the car at the vitamin store, I made a comment that I should have gone to the bathroom at the Chinese place before we left there. We both busted out laughing immediately realizing what little old ladies we were - realizing we had to plan out bathroom trips in advance! This was never a concern in our younger years. Not to mention we never would have gone to a vitamin store either in our younger years! My how things change! This picture was taken by me without Tina's consent!!

New Knitting

Now that I have given my step mom her suade drop-stitch scarf, I can post a picture of it. I may need to make one of these for myself! The pictures I'm posting today are a little blurry - I didn't realize that the background was too dark for the object I was shooting. Oh well - live and learn! These are the round dishcloths that I have made. I really like them and can't stop knitting them.

And here is a great picture of Cooper and Daddy - Cooper thought this was great fun!

Conversations with Cooper

I think it's an absolute blast to watch and listen to Cooper learn new words. Last night he learned to say "Amen". After we say his prayers, we of course say, "In Jesus' name we pray, Amen". Amen is the only part of the prayer he knows so far, so as soon as Mommy gets to that line, he jumps the gun and starts saying over and over "Amen, Amen". It's very cute!

He also pays very close attention to how he pronounces things, he used to call Kyle "Ki" and he was happy with that, but not any more, now he says "Kyyo" (the L sound is difficult). It's still really cute.

Here is an example of my daily conversation with Cooper:
Cooper: Mama
Me: Yes, dear
Mama
What honey
Mama
What baby
MAMA
WHAT
Mommy
Coopie
Maaamaaa
Cooooopeer
Can't help but love it!!

My poor kid's sweaty feet

This has been a hectic week. We've had to pick up Joseph every day this week from school and take him back to school the next day. His mom, Julie, had surgery on Monday and was supposed to be home on Tuesday, but a couple minor things happened and she's had to stay longer. Hopefully she'll get to go home today. Not that we mind having Joseph, it's just a little cumbersome having to pick him up and drive him to his school (far away from our house).

I came home last night, Don wasn't home from picking up Joseph (they stopped by the accountant's office to drop off our taxes) and the MIL was there letting Cooper run around like a little mad man. While I was cooking, she was still hanging around and she picked Cooper up to put him in his high chair. I glanced over and was stopped dead in my tracks by what I saw. TWO PAIRS OF SOCKS - again with the freakin socks! She said his feet were cold. It was warm enough outside for us to have the A/C on in the house and this woman decided his feet were cold and put two pairs of socks on him. I immediately stopped what I was doing and took off a pair of socks. She said, "feel - his feet are still cold". I touched his feet and said to her in a louder than normal, sarcastic tone, "they aren't cold, they're wet - FROM SWEAT". To which she made no further comment. I had to stop talking to her before I completely lost it. Note to self: pray for forgiveness for terrible and homicidal thoughts!!

Last Saturday, Tina and I took Cooper and Christopher to the park at the new outdoor mall by our house. Cooper thought that was the greatest thing ever. He was fascinated by these two little girls playing together and all the bigger kids.

House Hunting

We definately have a favorite.

It's in the neighborhood that we like, near the elementary school that we want Cooper to go to, etc. We like it and want it. We are still looking at other houses and haven't been officially approved yet, but I am certain that if it is meant to be, it will be.

Hectic Life!

My life got really hectic for a little bit! Don and I are looking at houses and then BAM! The entire clan of us got sick. I think we got it really bad, we had strep throat, and I think we had a cold in addition to that, because we were all really sick. We are recovering and almost normal. I have to remember to take pictures of the suede drop-stitch scarf I made for my step-mom's birthday coming up.

While we were all sick, my MIL raided the neighbors trash for a doll bed. She got it for her mother (so she says), however when Cooper wasn't feeling well, he climbed in. This will be great to embarrass him with in his teen years!! Awesome parenting!!

This weekend, I started knitting a shawl for myself. I rarely knit for myself any more, so hopefully I get around to finishing it. I hope I end up liking it. I love the colors, and it will look great with jeans.

Back to the house hunting. We have applied for a mortgage, and I am faithfully praying that it will go through. I am excited about moving for a couple of reasons. First, I'm excited about moving to a neighborhood a little nicer with houses that are a little bigger than the one we have now. And second, because I can clean a bunch of stuff out and away! And third, I will be able to put things in the new house exactly where I want them to be. When Don and I got married, he already had the house we are in now, so we just "made room" for my stuff. But this way, it will totally be ours - and when I say ours, I mean MINE! ha ha. I just get to put things where I want them to go. YIPEE!
